As a result of the weather system that poured down last Saturday, an overwhelming rain came down and the city of Nashville is seeing major flooding that destroyed numerous infrastructures and left non-driveable submerged roads. The rain that fell reached as much as 13 inches of water by 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the highest amount ever recorded and make the flooding one of the worst storms ever seen in years.

An aerial view of the surroundings concluded the amount of damage involved and officials came to know that the damage has spread on a larger scale. Gov. Phil Bredesen of Tennessee called it an “unprecedented rain event.” Nashville mayor Karl Dean declared a state of emergency and advised people to remain at a secure place and try to gather clean water for food.

All means of road transport were paralyzed by the road closures and transportation is a problem getting around the area. Officials said that the road closure situation will be controlled after they were able to find a way to pass out the flood water. Authorities are now contemplating on the best way to recover buildings and houses that were pulled from their foundations. The water treatment facilities were also flooded and no confirmed report was given on when they could be able to restore it.

Officials said that a large number of people are listed as dead, missing or injured after the event and they are collecting the information of the victims.
