The long-running American supernatural show, ‘Ghost Whisperer,’ has come to its end after five seasons. Executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander confirmed late Thursday, May 27, that the show will not be having a sixth season after negotiations to save the canceled TV show have fallen through. Sad news for Jenifer Love Hewitt’s fans.

“After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved,” said Moses and Sander on their statement. “We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”

The television series was canceled by CBS on May 18 because of rising costs and a decline in viewing figures. Fans were optimistic to see another season after the producers expressed an interest in continuing the program, but the bosses themselves later confirmed that attempts to negotiate a deal have failed.

‘Ghost Whisperer’ was created by John Gray and is produced by Sander/Moses Productions, in association with ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios. It premiered on CBS on September 23, 2005, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. It follows the life of a woman named Melinda Gordon who has a supernatural ability to see and communicate with ghosts, helping them to cross over into the light to the other side.
