Earthquake in Chile Alerts Tsunamis in Hawaii
Posted on Saturday, February 27th, 2010In Chile’s earthquake, Hawaii was placed on tsunami alert early Saturday after a giant earthquake struck Chile triggering warnings that the state of emergency action should be taken in all its islands. The earthquake news spread throughout the internet and also on other nearby countries wondering if the tsunamis may affect them also.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that,
“A tsunami has been generated that could cause damage along coastlines of all islands in the state of Hawaii,”
It warned the first waves could hit at 11:19 am in Hawaii, and said a tsunami consisted of a long series of ocean waves, with each wave able to last five to 15 minutes. These news have been putting Hawaii to frightened state. Even the said tsunami warning have reached the Philippines telling that there are possibilities that the tidal waves might reach them.
The statement also said,
“All shores are at risk no matter which direction they face. The trough of a tsunami wave may temporarily expose the seafloor but the area will quickly flood again”
