Just this Saturday morning, February 27, 2010, a magnitude of 8.5 earthquake struck Chile near Concepcion. The buildings were shaking, and there’s blackout everywhere, including Chile’s capital, Santiago. The magnitude 8.5 earthquake struck 56 miles northeast of Concepcion, Chile at 1:34 a.m. EST and was originally logged as an 8.3. Santiago is roughly 200 miles north of the epicenter.

After the massive earthquake in Chile, there were reports issued about a tsunami warning for Chile (near Concepcion) and Peru.

The Reuters Agency said:

An earthquake of this size has the potential to generate a destructive tsunami that can strike coastlines near the epicenter within minutes and more distant coastlines within hours.
