PS3 Error Code 8001050F Announcement of Fixing by Sony Today

PS3 Error Code 8001050F Announcement of Fixing by Sony Today – What is the latest news about the PS3 Error code 8001050F and the Sony’s announcement of fixing within the day?

Owners of the original model PS3 woke up to a bit of an annoyance this morning with widespread reports that the original 60GB PS3s are now unable to connect to the Playstation Network (PSN).

The on-screen message reads “An error has occured. You have been signed out of the Playstation Network. (8001050F)”, and seemingly prevents any of the consoles from getting online. Some users have been reporting that their offline gaming has been affected as well.

Hence, Sony’s PlayStation 3 appears to be in the throes of an inadvertent global gaming lockdown, suffering from an unidentified glitch that prevents gamers from playing specific games whether online or offline. The issue appears to be related to the monthly turnover (February to March, last night) and occurs whether you’re connected to the Internet or not. The company isn’t responding to press emails at this time or detailing what the problem is, only that it’s working on an “issue” and attempting “to restore service to all.”

Meanwhile, Owners of Slim model PS3s shouldn’t have any trouble connecting, but Sony isn’t saying exactly when it will be fixed for those who have been affected. Sony engineers are reportedly hard at work to rectify the issue as we speak, but there is a rumour (and it is purely forum rumours at the moment) that Sony might need to issue a recall to manually reset the affected systems.

We doubt that this will ultimately be necessary, eitherway, it’s annoying enough that these little issues keep cropping up on an otherwise excellent gaming platform, so we can only hope that Sony manage to get a fix out soon.

Now its for you to judge now what will gonna be the next endeavor of Sony in connection with this current error code that gave a big problems to a lot of customers.

PS3 owners are waking up to be greeted with the “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)” message. Sony has stated on their Twitter account that they are fixing the problem and to stay tuned for further updates.

However, according to several gaming forums, users are reporting that the PSN bug has deleted some of their game saves as well as trophy achievements. A big problem for Sony if that indeed is the case.

Apparently the Playstation network problems are isolated to only the original PS3’s and not the newer slim models.  An article at wired.com offers insight into why this issue happened.  Many are speculating over why the PS3 network is down, with some saying it could be a combination of firmware issues with DRM.

Still the issue which is expected to be fixed as of Monday morning has many angry PS3 gamers wanting to get their gaming back online.  Follow the latest updates from Sony at the PS3 Twitter profile found here.

Apparently evidence points to a combination of DRM and firmware issues rather than a PSN network outage and affected units are seeing their dates changed. Another cause maybe the actual trophies system itself causing the problems for the network.
